This One’s for the Battlers

Since being diagnosed with breast cancer about a week ago, I’ve come to two conclusions:

  1. My story is not unique or special
  2. I need to tell it anyway.

I need to tell my story for a few reasons…firstly for myself and for my kids. To help both me and them find a sense of place. Also I need to tell my story for all the others out there like me- other Aussie battlers- because we all know it helps to see that we’re not alone. The third reason I need to put my tale “out there” is for the others to see- the ones who don’t know this life & who otherwise would go along their merry way without an appreciation of or understanding for the struggle that is so real for the rest of us. I’m blowing the trumpet for the little guy.

But not tonight. It’s late, I’m tired & I have my first specialist appointment in the morning. Wish me luck!
